Just off the coast of Fort Meyers, Florida is Sanibel Island, a wildlife wonderland filled with some of the most incredible and rare birds in the United States. On the mainland near there are even more wonderful wildlife habitats waiting to be photographed if you know the right spots. We know those places.

Join us this May for an incredible four-night / five-day adventure as we travel throughout the area to capture stunning images of Bald Eagles, Osprey, Red-shouldered Hawks, Burrowing Owls, Barred Owls, Purple Gallinule, Roseate Spoonbills, Painted Bunting, Snail Kite, Sandhill Crane, Green Herons, Little Blue Herons, Night Herons, Great Blue Herons, Tri-colored Herons, Reddish Egret, Great Egret, Snowy Egret, Cattle Egrets, Limpkin, Brown and White Pelicans,  American Coot, Moorhens, Wood Stocks, Cormorants, Anhinga, Black and Turkey Vultures, Glossy & White Ibis and much more.  There is a good chance we will even see the elusive Mangrove Cuckoo and Bobcats

We will also take time to shoot the areas spectacular sunrises and sunsets (and maybe even some lightning).

Photographing wildlife, especially birds, takes a combination of knowing where to shoot, what time to shoot, and what equipment and settings are needed to capture birds both stationary and in flight.  This workshop will not only teach you how to shoot the spectacular wildlife of Florida's west coast but also how to shoot it in a scenic environment that allows your composition to tell a story.

In our workshops, we will cover

  • Advanced planning to select the best time and location to shoot
  • What is the right lens to use for each location to capture a compelling image
  • Camera settings to ensure your shots turn out beautifully
  • How to use eBird to determine where to find elusive species
  • Post-processing in Lightroom, Photoshop, and Stacking software to learn stacking and compositing to achieve stellar results.

Each day will bring a new adventure at great locations to capture fantastic photos.

WIn addition to the above species, we should capture assorted warblers, vireo, egrets, ducks, bunting, crested caracara, screech owls, raptors, anhinga, alligators, and more.
